Mr. Chen,
I am reading your amazing book China’s Son. i am 12 years old and in the seventh grade. one of my teachers came to visit you and get her book signed. She told us about how happy you were to find out that kids loved your book so much. witch my class and i do. I am so happy to learn more about china and the cultural revolution, from your great book and my Mandarin class.

Ni hao Mr. Chen. my name is Marwa and i am currently reading China’s Son. me and my friends all found it very interesting and hard to say, very graphic. I wanted to cry when i realized how lucky i am. To be that young going through that. Anyway, I absolutely love your book and hope to read the rest of your stories.

I can really realate to you because i lost my grandma some one really special to me and you lost your grandfather at a young age so that really clicked with me when i read that in the book. so i am a true fan of your book i hope i get a letter back soon
I’m a hungarian university student, and
accidentally found your book (Brothetrs) in our library. This book is enthralling and touching. Unfortunately, this one book of your’s transleted into hungarian. I hope, i can read more books from you in the future. Thank you, for your brilliant works!
i read your book a few years ago and now the university of maryland wants its applicants to write an essay about a book to nominate for its First Year Book Program. I chose your book, Sounds Of the River. It’s awesome. I was inspired by your dedication in college that brought you so many great opportunities. I look forward to reading your other books as well!
Dear Mr. Chen,
I have read Colors of the Mountain twice and just finished Sounds of the River. Thank you so very much for sharing your life with us. I very much am hoping you will please write another book starting from where Sounds of the River ended. Please think about it…I know that many would be interested in reading it. Thanks, Roberta

Chen Da, I have now read both colours of the mountain and sounds of the river. These are both incredible books. I owe you a great deal of thanks for sharing your childhood and university years with us.
Your books have been an incredible source of inspiration to me and your fascinating stories will forever remain fresh in my mind.
If by chance you see this message, I would love to find out how your family and group of loyal friends from yellow stone are keeping now?
Kind Regards,
James
